The name "Nassa" means “child” in the Hamer language. It reflects both the early beginnings of our founder, Mr. Gebeyehu Minalu, who started his journey in agribusiness as a young boy, and the deep connection he felt with the land and community that supported him. Called “the child” by those around him, he chose the name “Nassa” to honor his roots, his passion, and the people who helped shape his journey.
What began as humble trading in salt, coffee, goats, and cattle evolved into the official launch of Nassa Biraille Agricultural Development in 2002 E.C., starting with just 3 hectares of land and 4 employees. Today, Nassa has grown into a major agribusiness operating on over 6,465 hectares, employing 220 permanent staff and creating seasonal jobs for 2,000–3,000 workers annually — contributing significantly to local job creation and youth empowerment.
Nassa Biraille is committed to driving agricultural transformation through the use of cutting-edge technologies, while building a seamless and integrated production and supply chain. The company also aims to expand into manufacturing and service industries to create greater impact and long-term sustainability.
To become Ethiopia’s leading integrated agribusiness by 2027 E.C., driven by technology, fully mechanized farming, and value-added processing, and setting benchmarks in agricultural and industrial development.
