Nassa Birale Agricultural Development is a shining example of Ethiopia’s agricultural transformation, built on a unique story and strong community ties. The name “Nassa”, meaning “child” in the Hamer language, was chosen by the founder, Mr. Gebeyehu Minalu, to reflect his humble beginnings and the nurturing bond he shared with his work and community. What began in 2002 E.C. with only 3 hectares of land and four employees has grown into a large-scale agribusiness spanning over 6,465 hectares. From his early days trading salt, coffee, goats, and cattle, Nassa has evolved into a modern, mechanized farming operation that now employs 220 permanent staff and offers seasonal work to up to 3,000 individuals, creating significant job opportunities for Ethiopian youth.
